Anstead was born in Plymouth, Devon, on March 28, 1979. He and his family relocated to Hertfordshire when he was ten years old to attend Richard Hale School and afterwards Haileybury School to complete his A-Levels.
He joined the Hertfordshire Constabulary, the territorial police force responsible for policing the county of Hertfordshire, after completing his education.
During his tenure as a police officer, he received two commendations for acts of bravery. Despite his achievements, Anstead pursued other interests and eventually left the police force to pursue a career as a custom vehicle maker.
