Early Life
Lil Wayne was born in New Orleans, Louisiana, on September 27, 1982. Dwayne Michael Turner and Jacida Carter were his parents. Carter was only two years old when his parents divorced. As a result, his father abandoned the family. As a result, Carter eventually decided to drop the surname “Dwayne” in favor of “Wayne.”
Carter grew up in New Orleans’s low-income neighborhood of Hollygrove. This, however, was not enough to prevent Carter’s abilities from being recognized early on. Carter had been accepted into the honors program in elementary school. Additionally, he became a member of the drama club and frequently sang.
