Yandy Smith Net Worth & Career
Yandy Smith began her professional career as an Executive Assistant at Violator Management in the entertainment sector. Among her clients were prominent musicians and performers such as Missy Elliot, 50 Cent, and LL Cool J. Yandy met rapper Jim Jones in 2005, just a year after graduating from college, on a private jet chartered by Russell Simmons. She left Violator Management to take up the full-time management of Jones.
The following year, VH1 approached Jones about starring in a reality show. An 11-minute trailer for the proposed show called “Keeping Up with the Joneses” was made, but VH1 was unconvinced.
Yandy then approached Mona Scott-Young, her mentor at Violator Management, who altered the notion by bringing in Jones’ girlfriend Chrissy and her friends. Yandy made her reality television debut during the first season when Chrissy and Jim announced their engagement, and it was a cameo appearance that went uncredited.
In season two of “Love & Hip Hop: New York,” Yandy Smith was added to the main cast. Her primary plotline was around the obstacles and difficulties she encountered while working as Jim Jones’ manager. Her professional connection with Jones implodes throughout that season, and she gets into a confrontation with Chrissy in a Miami nightclub. Following that, Jones and Chrissy discontinued their connection with Yandy.
Yandy later became a consultant for Warner Music Group, Atlantic Records, and Columbia Records. Then she formed Monami Entertainment with her former Violator Management boss Mona Scott-Young. Yandy works with the organization as a talent agent. Billboard magazine named her one of the “Top 30 Executives Under 30” in 2008.
Yandy is also a part-owner, president, and brand manager of Everything Girls Love’s lifestyle brand.
Yandy also appears as a guest star in an episode of “Love & Hip Hop Atlanta: After Party Live!” and in the specials “40 Greatest Love & Hip Hop Moments,” “Dirty Little Secrets,” “The Love Edition,” “Love & Hip Hop Awards: Most Certified,” and “40 Greatest Love & Hip Hop Moments: The Reboot.”
